Function/Role: Oversee the growth opportunities of clients, and help them both resolve problems and/or struggles they face, and become a better version of themselves.
Professional Areas of Expertise: Thomas is a passionate, people-loving, analytical thinker who strives to help others go from where they are to where they want to be in their life. He has 25 years’ experience as a Mental Health, Marriage & Family, and Geriatric Counselor. He has been a Trainer and Public Speaker for over 10 years and developed over 80 topics created to cater to client’s needs.
Passion regarding the mission of healing: Thomas is passionate about seeing others grow in self-discovery, and being a part of that healing and new learning.
Specific competencies in the learning process: Thomas is a seasoned therapist and teacher and can help make complex information simpler. Thomas’ greatest competency is his empathy; the ability to enter the struggle and healing/learning process with someone. Also, he strives to make the journey fun, engaging and rewarding.
Claim to fame: Thomas founded “A Better Way, LLC” with the goal to help others enjoy a higher, fuller quality of life. He has utilized his acquired skills of Counseling, Coaching, Teaching and Mediation to this end. Another “factoid” is that he led the Color Guard in the very 1st US Bicentennial Parade (Guam…Where America’s Day begins!)
Background: He holds a BS in Business Administration from The Ohio State University (’86) and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Akron (’96). He is licensed by the State of Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Thomas was trained for and has years of experience as a Mediator. He has training in Formational Prayer Ministry. He is pursuing opportunities to help abolish Human Sex/Labor Trafficking, which is the fastest growing (& 2nd largest) criminal enterprise on the planet. He is a past member of Toastmasters, International. He has enjoyed several volunteer experiences throughout the world; many as a Short-Term missionary.
What makes Thomas unique: Thomas was raised as the 2nd born of 8 children; all boys, with 2 sets of twins. As a result, he had his first job at 10yo. He learned to share and to handle issues as they arose in their home and interact with multiple personalities. He spent over 13 years in the USAF and OANG, combined. As previously stated, Thomas has developed the skill of “Accurate Empathy” which has been identified as an important skill to effectively help others.
Interests outside of work: Thomas enjoys improving his ever-fluctuating golf game, and travelling the world with his wife. He fancies himself an amateur foodie. He enjoys volunteering in worthy causes.

Thomas is the kindest, most compassionate therapist I have ever worked with. He really takes the time to listen and validate what I am feeling. He has introduced me to some wonderful Christ-centered methodologies for healing. I cannot wait to see the results.

Thomas is so relatable and friendly… and knows how to break the ice. He is a man of faith, which is essential for us, so we feel all-in with his feedback and homework! His insights are helpful and he pushes in the most gentle manner so that it is always productive processing things with him. Such a relief to be getting help for our marriage here with Thomas!
