About me

Greetings,

I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and practicing Psychotherapist in the state of Virginia. I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work. I have over 15 years of experience in private practice providing therapy to adults, couples, children, families and groups.

I have experience working with individuals who are challenged by depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss issues and substance abuse with co-occurring mental health challenges. In addition, I have experience across a variety of settings, including community behavioral health organizations, the University Counseling Center and various work place environments.

I describe my therapy style as eclectic, and client centered, I approach the therapeutic relationship with authenticity, empathy and respect. I believe in starting where you are and first and foremost establishing therapeutic rapport. I frequently utilize modalities including; cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, strengths based and mindfulness-based strategies. I have also provided crisis and disruptive event management and provided trauma response counseling to the survivors of the Virginia Beach, Virginia tragedy. In addition, I provide short term/ brief therapy for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and received specialized training and certification in the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders.

Finally, I believe that we all have the potential to change challenging situations and the ability to reach our fullest potential. My goal as a therapist is to assist you with achieving your fullest potential through helping you confront your challenges and discover new strengths . I look forward to working with you and assisting you with achieving your goals.

Tina has been great. I can tell she is actually listening and makes me feel safe talking to her.

Written on Jan 17, 2022 after therapy with Tina for 1 month on issues concerning stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief, and self esteem

Tina was more than I expected for a first session. She actively listens, asked great thought provoking follow up questions and didn't let me 'walk by' a key concern needing exploring. I ended the session feeling better. And though I said I feel better now in the moment but it won't last, she challenged me to give it time where feeling better will more longer lasting. I believe Tina is my person to push me to work through being 'uncomfortable' and to quite her 'got to get through to get to' is a journey.

Tina knows what she is doing! In my short time with her, she helped me realize things that I had never thought about before. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing counseling.
