Tonya Powell, LPC
About me
Greetings! My name is Tonya Powell. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to providing exceptional care and promoting healing and wholeness to those committed to my care. I received my Masters degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2006. Since then, I’ve had extensive training and experience working with a diverse group of people, including residential care with children and adolescents struggling with trauma induced behaviors, maladaptive coping skills, and problematic sexualized behaviors. In addition, I’ve worked closely with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence, Military Personnel and their families who struggle with PTSD, transitions and more. I utilize a wide array of treatment modalities tailored to meet the individual needs of each client. These modalities may include Trauma Informed Care, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered and Solution Focused therapy.
In addition to my professional education and training, I believe my greatest ability to provide meaningful, effective counseling stems from my own personal experiences that have developed me. I’ve been married for 17 years, and together we have 11 amazing children who sometimes keep me young but most often bring me those grays!
I am very compassionate and empathetic, yet genuine, real , concise and constructive in my delivery.
I would love to be a part of your journey of good health & wellness!

Tonya is amazing. She listens and offers great suggestions. She is very knowledgeable in all of the areas that I need her in. I was very nervous going into my first session with her and she had me feeling relaxed and comfortable within the first few minutes. She is smart, wise, funny and real.
