Travis Schmidt, LCSW
About me
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Idaho and Hawaii with years of experience working as a readjustment counselor at a VA Vet Center, case manager for VA homeless program, and community engagement coordinator for public health for the past 12 years. I also served in the Navy for 8 years as a FMF Corpsman with marine corps units and at the Naval Academy clinic working with mental health issues . I love working with individuals, couples, and groups in therapy. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including crisis, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, warzone trauma, and sexual trauma. I also helped many who have experienced issues navigating the Veterans Affairs system and advocating for my fellow veterans.
My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and strength-based. I am always learning about different therapy approaches and will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you and assist in any way I can.
I look forward to working with you!

I have enjoyed working with Travis. I used to think/feel that no one really cares about me or my situation and I just need to deal with it but Travis has been a person I feel I can share my thoughts and feelings with. He has made me feel comfortable and that I can trust him. He has challenged me and helped me become aware of things that may have contributed to my situation as well as offer open dialogue of possible solutions. The worksheets he has provided helped me to think deep and analyze me own well being.

Travis has a easy going and calming personality that allows him to listen with empathy. He helped me process feelings and insecurities that I wasn’t aware we’re working in the background of my mind. With relevant observations and journal prompts, Travis helped me work through some stressful memories that we’re keeping me from moving on in a positive direction! Thanks Travis!

I highly recommend Travis!
I loved working with Travis. Although I'm a guy who normally prefers female therapists, I connected very well with him. He's a really cool guy that's extremely kind, caring, and considerate. He's very down to earth and practical solution oriented. I appreciate how much he prioritized listening during our sessions and how quickly he would message me back when I needed support.
