About me
Greetings!
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 11 years of work with people who are striving to thrive. I work through a trauma-informed lens, with a strengths-based, humanistic perspective. Those who have benefitted most from my work have experienced some trauma in their lives and are working to unravel the effects those events have had on them. I have a long history of working with those who have experienced significant domestic violence, grief and loss, and with loved ones of folks who are LGBTQIAA+. Additionally, those with PTSD, other anxiety disorders, and Bipolar have greatly benefited from their work with me. I also work with those who are challenged with addiction issues, especially if they are in tandem with other mental health issues. Together we can unravel the interconnectedness of the challenges you experience and I can support you in finding a life that is more meaningful and satisfying.
My goal in my work with you is to develop a connection through which you can learn to develop trust, insight and a deeper understanding of yourself. This means at times I will work with your innate intelligence to identify and create solutions and at other times I may use what you have shared with me and my own intuition to offer advice, share observations and make suggestions. I have an eclectic toolkit that includes working with Narrative therapy, using aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.
You have taken the first step on your road to healing, the first step is often the most difficult. Thanks for considering me as your therapist. I look forward to our work together.

I have worked with other counselors before with mixed results - Valeria helped me to see what a counselor who is a good fit and who has the right expertise can truly achieve. She is a patient and supportive listener, and she is also great at asking questions that make you explore your thoughts, experiences, values and beliefs more deeply. She took the time to help me identify my values, often guiding me to make decisions in accordance with my values instead of following some kind of universal advice. She taught me new skills and gave me tools that have made it possible to live my life more fully, and I am very grateful for the time I've spent working with her. I would highly recommend Valeria - working with her, even through some very tough issues, has been a joy and a life-changing time.

Val is amazing. She has really helped me overcome so many things and I feel really understands me on a deeper level that few do! I would recommend her in a heartbeat, she listens to me and works at my pace but also challenges me to get out of my head!

Valeria is the first professional I've ever sought for therapy, and I'm so lucky I got connected with her! Over the past four months, she's equipped me with many ways to become aware of and navigate my anxiety, stress, ADHD, and more. Valeria has a kind heart and is a great listener - I really appreciate being able to work with her.
