About me
Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, in the state of Texas, with over 20 years of experience working as a counselor. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, anger issues, and life changing events. I also helped many people who have experienced low self-esteem issues or abuse and trauma. I have counseled many children, families, couples, and individuals in a variety of settings.
My counseling style is non-judgmental, warm, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and Reality Therapy counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your specific needs.
My focus in counseling is to meet you where you are with acceptance and non-judgement, and to use an approach that will work best for you as we work toward meeting your therapy goals. With my experience, I genuinely believe I can help families and adults heal their relationships and work through the struggles they face.
It takes courage to take this step for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the next steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you through your journey. You can do it. My motto is “Believe It, Speak It, Achieve It!

Velma is a great therapist. She has helped me so much change old destructive habits that I have developed over time because of anxiety - it has been life changing. She always gives me a variety of exercises to help me with my anxiety. She is very understanding, knowledgeable and genuine. Our sessions are always helpful. I am very thankful to have gone on better help and have her as my therapist!

Velma has been an absolute blessing! She has changed how I go about my everyday life and helped me transition from a negative thinker into a more positive one. She is very easy to talk to and is amazing at what she does. I plan to keep Velma as my counselor throughout my life in both the good times and the bad, and for years to come. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, compassionate, Christian based therapist who will help you reach your mental health goals!
