Victoria Okai, LPC
About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia with over 14 years of professional work experience in the mental health field.
I earned my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2013 and bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland in 2009. I have since been working primarily as a crisis counselor. Throughout my career, I have worked in both private and public settings, including hospitals, community service boards, residential facilities and outpatient clinics. I am passionate and skilled in helping clients deal with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, low self esteem and confidence issues and severe depression. I also work with couples to repair trust, improve communication, and strengthen their emotional intimacy with each other. I believe in a whole-person and strengths based approach to treatment, therefore I draw from holistic therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I believe in treating everyone with respect, compassion and dignity. I will therefore tailor our dialog and your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to ask for help, and I am here to support you in your journey to live a more happier and fulfilling life.
