About me
Greetings!
I am a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee with 18+ years of mental health with a doctorate in psychology from Saybrook University and a master’s degree in counseling from Villanova University. I have experience working with adults with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and who have experienced emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse. Clients grappling with issues pertaining to spirituality, faith, meaning, and purpose may find my approach helpful. My knowledge of psychology, and of Eastern and Western philosophy and religions, assists me in meeting clients where they are in their journey to wholeness and well-being. I have published two books, both with a focus on the Transcendent Psyche (Soul), and my model of realizing the Higher Self within.
My 15+ years in human resources management in major corporations in Texas and Pennsylvania provides me with extensive workplace knowledge and the ability to help clients maneuver through the high stress work environment today.
I provide individual therapy for both adult men and women utilizing my knowledge of the cognitive, emotional, and relational differences between men and women. Male and female clients have similar situations, but oftentimes have different internal experiences and different perspectives as individuals and within intimate relationships which creates conflict Helping guide them to insights and strategies which can lead to a more harmonious, healthier relationship is my goal.
My therapeutic approach: My approach is client-centered with a psychodynamic element, with an understanding that most of life’s deepest challenges stem from childhood wounds which may be unconscious or conscious. Understanding the bio-psychosocial aspect of mental health is also important for it is the mind-body connection which underpins our psyche. My knowledge of Jungian theory, Attachment theory, and the stages of personal growth outlined by Abraham Maslow and the psychosocial stages by Erikson, all inform my work with clients. Overall, I focus on client goals and removing obstacles to meet those goals.
My therapist style: The basis of trust between therapist and client relies on a therapist who provides a safe environment in which the client can be heard, seen, understood, without judgment, and disclose intimate matters, so they can be their authentic and natural self. My passion is to help my clients navigate life’s challenges, traumas, and difficult situations, so they can heal and experience more inner peace and healthier, happier relationships with loved ones, friends, and at work.
