About me
Why doesn’t my family understand me? Why do I keep making bad choices? Why do I feel like I am always getting in trouble? Why does no one listen to me? Is there something wrong with me? Do my parents love me? Does anyone love me?
These are common thoughts that constantly run through our minds. It can happen daily. Maybe you feel as if you will be judged if you receive mental health services. These thoughts often lead to feelings of worthlessness, depression, anxiety, failure, loneliness and low self-esteem. These feelings lead to self-harm, thoughts of suicide, arrests, and other decisions that can have a negative impact on your life. You are not alone. It shows great strength to admit you may need someone to talk to.
I am a solution focused and goal oriented therapist. I utilize various techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, play therapy, trauma focused therapy, behavior modification, etc. I believe in working together to create an individualized plan for you. I bring a different perspective then others may and through this it can help you with coming to a new perspective of yourself. I help with learning coping skills, developing problem solving skills, communication techniques, anger management, etc. I work with you to help you discover the next steps you need to take to help improve yourself and to grow.
I graduated from University of South Florida with a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. My career has involved working with children to adults. I have a lot of experience working with people with disabilities, juveniles in trouble with the law, families, and individuals in transition. Yvette is very patient and attentive. She allows me to just talk to get all the feelings or emotions out and then she reels me in helping me to focus and identify what I’m feeling and why. After the feeling or emotion has been identified she works with me in setting a goal for the week (since I’m goal oriented). She also has provided me with other tools or worksheets that have help me to manage by anxiety. Highly recommend. She is truly passionate about her profession.
