Therapy can help you develop the coping strategies you need to manage many of life’s challenges. If you’re looking for a therapist, CO has many online treatment options. Barriers to mental health care, like a lack of available therapists or financial concerns, can make it challenging to find an in-person mental or behavioral health provider. An online therapy platform like BetterHelp can make therapy more flexible and convenient.

At BetterHelp, you can work with a psychologist, social worker, or marriage and family therapist from the comfort of your home at a time that works for you. Plus, you can change providers at any time for no fee until you find one with whom you can have a successful therapeutic relationship.

While BetterHelp does not offer group therapy at this time, the platform allows you to work through your unique challenges with your counselor one-on-one. Whether you need to improve your coping skills, learn to manage everyday stressors, or want to address repetitive behaviors, a BetterHelp provider can guide you through the healing process in a safe, therapeutic space.

The list below can help you find providers licensed in the state of Colorado so you can learn more about the benefits of online treatment and sign up for your first therapy session.

I would be happy to help you move forward in your life. I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. I have a M.A. in Counseling and also a Master of Divinity degree, but I never superimpose my beliefs or convictions on anyone else, because that is not ethical. My aim is to help individuals and couples move forward in life in a consistent manner with their particular goals and values and convictions. As for experience, I have the least experience working with LGBTQ clients. For licensure I have the LPC, and for certification I have the CADC. As such, I am able to help individuals with issues of depression, severe anxiety, major life changes and losses, substance abuse issues, relationship issues, learning to be assertive and to have boundaries, closure for trauma and abuse, and helping individuals create a strategy for finding an ideal career. I draw on several different treatment approaches, but my foundation is the Cognitive-Behavioral approach, because it is proven that guarding the thoughts, avoiding assumptions, and learning to pause and reflect rather than just reacting is what helps people the most to be at peace with themselves, and to better handle the stressors that life throws at us. I look forward to working with you. Mostly I work with clients in the United States and Canada. But I am uniquely placed so that I can easily work with clients in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe and the UK. So let's get going, and let's start working on what's most important to you. I look forward to hearing from you.

I have been in helping roles for the last 33 years. Early in my career I worked in Correctional Institutions with both teens and adult males. Those early years were so very formative for me as a person and really shaped my path moving forward. After 16 years I left the correctional setting and worked in an educational setting for the last 15 years. Quite a change and a whole different set of experiences added to my skill set. Out of my masters program I worked at a wellness center with a wide variety of clients including, transgender, gay and lesbian, couples, and military clients experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). All of these combined experiences have really diversified my ability to be a good counselor. I feel so very fortunate for these past experiences and I look forward to new challenges. I truly feel fortunate when a person shares their story with me and it is very satisfying to help people in this role. I would describe my approach as goal oriented, and client centered. I have an eclectic mix of styles but believe that I need to meet you where you are and we can determine from that point what modality is best for your issues. Remember your take away must work for you beyond counseling! I am based in Carl Rogers humanistic approach and believe that you as the client are the expert on you! I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, DBT, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). These modalities are hands-on, practical approaches to problem-solving. CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns and or behaviors. The goals are to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind difficult situations, and so change the way they feel. This helps people identify faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking and learn better ways of coping with life's full variety of stressors. I am also a fan of mindfulness techniques and believe that it brings focus into a person life when they need it most. I have a tremendous amount of experience working with troubled teens and adults and feel at ease with difficult issues and topics. Counseling in a correctional setting taught me that life is precious and people can work toward second chances. I am open to new challenges and really appreciate learning new skills that can be added to a wealth of experience accumulated to date. I look forward to working with you! On a personal note, I have been married 30 years to a wonderful and patient woman! We have two great sons and two dogs named Otto and Milly who are adorable. Being married 30 years requires work on both partners parts and it is not always perfect but with good communication and effort life can be quite enjoyable.

I was born and raised in Colorado. In my late 20's I moved to Florida and lived there for about 12 years. While I was in Florida I met my wife whom was from Colorado too. After we were married we decided to return to Colorado. I started counseling and working with people while I lived in Florida and continued after I moved to Colorado. I have been counseling and working with people for about 20 years. Over the past 20 years it has been a privilege to help people and to be a part of their lives for a short time and help them through struggles such as life changes, grief, anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, and relationship issues. As I have worked with people with these struggles and many others I believe in treating everyone with respect compassion. I believe therapeutic rapport is one of the most important aspect of the therapeutic relationship. Therefore, In every session I will endeavor to create an atmosphere where you feel heard, safe, trust, and respect so you feel comfortable being open about what is troubling you. Each session will be tailored to you, your needs and goals, and the treatment plan you establish. Reaching out for help and talking to a therapist is never easy and requires a lot of courage. If you decided to reach out to me I am here to support you and help you achieve your goals and the life you want for yourself.

Are you feeling disconnected from others?  Do you feel depressed, angry, or anxious? Are you struggling to gain some traction to get your life moving forward, instead of staying stuck in the same place or looking backwards?  Or perhaps you need help to make a relationship work or be a better parent.  Whatever your concerns, I would be honored to assist you in finding your way through these obstacles so you can get back on track and be the person you are meant to be.  I offer a safe, nurturing, and problem-solving approach. I received my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2018. I began my counseling career as a clinical counselor at a local non-profit organization serving adults struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse concerns. The rich experiences I have worked in have helped me to gain experience working with a variety of clients and their needs. I was fortunate to be exposed to a variety of therapeutic techniques and tools, and to learn about available community resources for those in need. I believe in a caring, person-centered focus.  The focus of my practice now is to provide transformative therapy in a non-judging manner to adults age 18 and over. I have a passion for working with clients who struggle with trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.  Our sessions together are meant to help you grow and gain insight, with a supportive and educated therapist by your side.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Some of the most commonly asked questions about therapy can be found in the section below.

How much does therapy with a licensed therapist cost?

Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person Colorado therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.

BetterHelp offers payment plans of $65 to $100 per week. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.

Is it possible to find a therapist, counselor, or psychology practitioner that offers affordable therapy?

Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.

When should I get a therapist in Colorado?

Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

What can a psychologist help me with in therapy?

Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.

Does insurance cover the cost of in-person or online therapy with a therapist in Colorado?

Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.

Are online therapy sessions the safe option?

Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.

In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
