Dr. JoEllen Kennedy
The first step in changing the quality of your life is by looking for the right resources. You've come to the right place. As you personally know, recognizing there's a challenge in your life is a huge step in making the decision to improve your concerns. Finding the right person to assist you in making and meeting your goals is essential to success. Who you decide to trust with your personal struggles is a key factor in improving your life satisfaction. Every client regardless of circumstance, jumps into the unknown once they decide the life they have at this very moment must change. Just defining goals, stressors and factors for life satisfaction is easier to handle with a knowledgeable Therapist who has experience in the field. I received my Ph.D. when I was 28 years old. It suits my personality and desire to be of assistance to others as they go through the various stages and challenges of life. I have been in practice for 37 years. In my early career I worked with families, couples, individuals and groups. I focused on a variety of issues ranging from life adjustment to abuse/addiction/trauma. I spent several years working with the Superior Court Judges in determining the best course of action for individuals that repeatedly found themselves in court. I've worked on visitation, custody issues and parental rights. As a perpetual learner I continued my training after my Ph.D. and I became an Addictions Expert. Any addiction whether it's a substance or a behavior has many aspects thus I dealt with clients with depression, stress, loss, self worth, and mental illness. In addition my practice , I've always taught at the University level. I am a Tenured, Full Professor. I have taught Undergraduates, Graduate students, and Therapists. One thing I discovered over the years is that it is so much easier and less painful to learn new behaviors, change thoughts and adjust core beliefs than it is to step in when there is already a crisis. Everything comes down to you and what your needs are at the time of contact. I have a high regard for individual's strengths and life experience. Let me be clear, you are the Expert of you and I am the Expert to assist you meets your needs. I very much look forward to working with you.
Stephen Weaver
Hey there. I'm Steve. I've been moved by the human experience ever since I was a young lad. My first field was communication not because I was good at it, but because I was really horrible at it. I eventually became a journalist, video producer, photographer, and excelled at it, but something was lacking. I got into teaching at the collegiate level and as well with kids through adults who've had difficulty with learning, but yet, I yearned for more. It was there, with kids who were dealing with so much, that I learned what I wanted to do next in working with people. I entered counseling school and about a decade later, here I am. I am much less shy than when I first went to college, and you'll see that in a session. I don't enjoy sitting back, I get in there and point things out to you. I work with you how I think I would like to be worked with. Am I human? Yes, and I point that out, but I truly care about you and want you to be where you want to be. I am underpinned by existentialism, it's the big things in life that I look to when people have issues. I also regard the human body as possibly part of the issue that is giving you difficulties - for example our diets today are very much affecting our mental health. I love neuroscience and the polyvagal theory approaches and regard our "mind" as something that can also use some healing. I also am a big lover of relationships, and see them as the last cog in the total wellness of you. Look at it as a triangle or wellness - Mind-Body-Relationships. Oh, and I also may have you talk to yourself. I do best with adults for some reason, but I like all people. I am a family therapist, and see the family as a reason many issues occur. Anyway, I'll help, but you as well have to want to change. It is something I value deeply as I've changed from that shy kid to a confident, more present person, and I want to help you do the same. Stephen Weaver, MA, MSED, LMFT has a bachelor's in electronic media: mass media from the University of Akron, a master's of art in professional communication from Purdue, and a master of science in education: couple and family counseling, from Indiana University (both master's from IPFW).
Jennifer Malott
With 20 years in a helping profession, 12 of which performing clinical/therapeutic services I have had opportunities to work with many unique populations and many amazing clients, all with different strengths and challenges. Some of my strongest work has been with folks struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar and psychotic disorders. My experience as a Vocational Counselor gave me specialized skills to work with those dealing with employment issues and I am passionate about helping others as they struggle with the stress of work, family and other responsibilities. My therapeutic approach is fairly laid back aimed at creating a comfortable situation for individuals to open up. Despite a laid back approach I am still very goal focused and client centered. We will work together to figure out solutions and steps to take so you can live your best life. I am looking forward to working with you and helping on your journey.

I have a passion to work with people who need therapy. I am excited to keep working in the field of counseling. My specialties include, trauma counseling, grief work, anxiety disorders, depression and LGBTQ issues. I specifically love to take Trauma cases and people who have anxiety disorders. John "David" Reid
Hello! My profile says John, but I prefer to go by my middle name, David. I am a licensed therapist in Virginia and Indiana with 17 years of professional work experience. I have extensive experience working with clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. As a veteran and former first responder, I also understand the unique life experiences of those populations, and greatly enjoy serving those who serve their community and nation. I am comfortable supporting the style of communication that works best for you, but I'm a firm believer in at least occasional video sessions. Being connected to people is vitally important to our mental wellness, even if it's over a video link. I do ask all my clients to participate in a video session early during our work together, and at least periodically after that. I believe that YOU are the expert on you! I am here to listen, guide, explore, support, and empower you on your "wellness expedition". I'm proud of you for starting this journey, because it takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life, and to take the first steps towards a change.

Glennon Doyle says, "Be messy and complicated and afraid and show up anyway." It can be really scary to reach out for help when you're feeling stuck, when you're feeling out of control, or when you simply don't like who or what you see in the mirror. This is the part where I humbly invite you to take the leap and be vulnerable. Whether you're a child dealing with behavioral or emotional difficulties, a teen dealing with anxiety or depression, or an adult dealing with the general messiness of life - I am here for you and I believe things can get better. I use a person-centered approach with clients because therapy is not a "one-size fits all" - it should be a collaborative process based on what YOU want and need. I have experience with children & adolescents 5 to 17 years, young adults, & families (biological, foster, adoptive, and chosen!). I specialize in treating trauma, LGBTQ+, & body image issues. It's okay to feel stuck, but you don't have to unpack and live in that space. The life you imagined for yourself, for your child, and for your family is still possible. Match with me today, and we can take the first step together! Please keep in mind that I am only available in the evenings.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Some commonly asked questions can be found below.
How much does a therapist cost?
Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.
BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.
Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.
How do I know if I should get a therapist?
Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions in Indiana can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.
Does insurance cover therapy?
Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.
Is online therapy safe?
Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.
