Green Cove Springs is named after the section of the Saint Johns River where the city is built. At the Riverbend, there is a grove of trees that shelter the river, giving it a green cover. The town is also famous for its natural spring that was locally known as the original fountain of youth where the clear water feeds the public swimming pool before flowing into the Saint Johns River.
At times, you may not feel like enjoying the springs, the swimming pool, the river, or anything else. These can be signs of a mental or emotional disorder that can be treated by a mental health professional in the Green Cove Springs area. If you need help, just reach out today to one of the counselors or therapists in and around Green Cove Springs.

Whitney Johnson
Hi, I’m Whitney. If you've struggled with trauma, self-doubt, insecurities, anxiety, and/or depression. You're in the right place. About my clients: My client's want to feel better. Plain and simple. They have a keen sense of when something is off about themselves and are ready to work towards a solution to getting their problems resolved. Life can be overwhelming these days. Therapy can provide you with insight on how to get out of the rut. I look forward to working together and helping you find clarity so that can get back to living your life on your terms. My background and approach: I have a background in individual and family therapy. I received my master’s degree in social work from the University of Central Florida, and I received my bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida. I use a combination of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and wholistic therapeutic practices when working with my clients. Many clients believe that it is the therapist’s job to make them feel better. While feeling better may be the outcome of counseling it is not always the case in every situation. My main role is to help you identify the root cause and triggers of your uncomfortable emotions, and to perhaps help you understand yourself more clearly and provide insight as to why some emotions are surfacing so intensely. You and I will work collaboratively to develop the capacity to endure intense emotions and channel them properly. By doing this you will be able to increase your ability to disperse/ relieve your symptoms at a quicker rate. Mental mental health challenges can be a persistent thorn in your side, but the thing about thorns is that they can be pulled out. Let me help you pull out your "thorn" and get you on the path to a life where you manage your mental health and your mental health doesn't manage you.

OVERWHELMED! I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I get it. I already think you are pretty awesome to seek assistance. So, let’s get to work. Perhaps you are feeling hopeless from depression, over-the-edge from anxiety, inattentive because of ADHD, quick-to-click from anger, a salad bowl of feelings from grief, substance use that leads to relationship or legal troubles, or memory from trauma. I am a Master’s level, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor in Florida. My experience has included working with adults in a private practice setting since September 2015. My approach is to offer clients the support, acceptance, insight, and guidance needed to achieve your desired level of functioning. Treatment approaches used are Somatic Theory, Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Person-Centered, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT. Other Important Information: My observance is that as people are becoming busier and some are having to adjust to new daily routines, scheduling can become a problem. That, and the higher demand for therapist is why I am making this announcement on how to cancel an appointment and on my “no show”/cancellation policy. (This policy does not count if I am the one making the cancellation, and I will not cancel you with out giving you notice, or helping to reschedule you). BetterHelp makes it seem easy to cancel an appointment (or even change counselors) Simply click on Cancel or change therapist. However, this is a gentle reminder for those who may not be aware that it is customary to let your therapist know when you can not make an appointment, (or that you wish to change therapists). Additionally, if something comes up and you do need to cancel it is important to give 24 hours notice; this allows others the possibility of using that appointment time (this is critical now that more people are ready and waiting for appointments). Cancellations within 24 hours of a session are considered “no shows”. You are allowed one no show, after that BetterHelp may charge you for a session. After the second “no show” I will limit sessions to messaging rather than scheduled live appointments. I know this policy can be a challenge, and part of therapy is stretching you. Not all of BetterHelp’s counselors have the same policies, and while I prefer to continue working with all my clients, it is ok if you decide to choose a different therapist. Additionally, I encourage you to message me before changing therapist (for any reason) I can assist you in finding a new therapist. And it is helpful to follow up with you on your experiences with me in therapy.

Mark Jackson
Mark has been a Clinical Social worker for the past 16 years working in the US and UK with various client populations from Babies needing organ transplants to adults with End Stage Renal Disease. The common thread with those unwell as he puts it, has been their connection or lack thereof with positive thoughts, habits and social network. The lack of these associations generally leads to decline over time. He realized that he was most passionate about helping people stay or return to wellness rather that assisting the disease state. Mark actively pursues the link between effective nutrition and solid Mental Health and Wellness, his aim is the help clients feel like the best version of themselves.
