Hello, my name is Christina DeSantis. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Simmons College. I have been in the Human Services field for over 15 years. I’ve worked as a therapist in various capacities for over 10 years. I have worked with individuals of all ages. The areas in which I have the most exposure are with people dealing with addictions, trauma and abuse, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, people dealing with life changes, and people who are struggling with emotional distress due to medical conditions. I do not subscribe to one treatment modality in particular. I think it is important to customize treatment based on the person’s individualized needs. I do have experience in using Cognitive -Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. As a therapist, I consider my most important values to be the ability to be open-minded, empathetic and non-judgmental. I believe the thing that sets me apart from other therapists is my ability to be real and authentic but being compassionate at the same time. I strongly believe in honesty within a therapeutic relationship. I commit myself to being honest to the people I work with. In return, I hope to provide a safe space for people to be comfortable and candid. I understand that therapy can be hard work, and taking the steps towards working on you can be scary. My hope is to be a guide in this experience and to offer support as you tackle some of life’s biggest challenges. I look forward to walking through this important journey with you.

Welcome as it takes courage to for us to ask for help from others and seek therapy. I am here to tell you that it is okay to ask for help and seeking a professional therapist is the first step in your journey. Life is hard at times, with a multitude of life transitions, from graduating from high school to finishing college, starting a new job, or have feelings of being stuck either personally and/or professionally. Life is not an easy road to travel, but as we travel through different life challenges, sometimes we need help from others and it’s okay to seek the help. I have been a License Professional Counselor for the past eight years. I am very passionate about the mental health field and each client I have had the pleasure of working with. I am very respectful of everyone’s journey and believe respect, compassion, and sensitivity are very important in building and maintaining a healthy therapeutic relationship. I have experience with working with clients who have struggled with anxiety, depression, stress and major life transitions, PTSD, trauma, relationship issues, ADHD symptoms, mood disorders, parent-child relationship issues, behavioral problems, parenting techniques, and grief/loss. My therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I utilize different therapeutic techniques to assist my clients, which ensures each client has a personalized treatment plan. When working with my clients, I like to build a strong therapeutic rapport to gather a clear understanding of the client’s needs, goals they want to work on and/or issues they want to address in therapy, barriers to progression in therapy, and objectives to reaching their therapeutic goals. My philosophy is working with each client is that I am here to help you. My hope is that I work with you, helping you understand where you are in the process of change, motivate you to move towards the next stage, assist you throughout the therapeutic process, and we move at your pace. The client’s progression in the therapeutic process is to understand and acknowledge that, to a large degree, a successful treatment outcome depends on the amount of energy and effort the client makes. I will always have an open and honest line of communication with clients; as well as be empathy and very respectful. I look forward to working you!

I help you weather the storms of change in times of difficulty, stress, and loneliness. I am a listening ear and a sounding board for your thoughts and ideas. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, I will work with you to gain insight into your thoughts and feelings and help you to make progress toward your goals. You can feel free to be yourself and share what is on your mind and in your heart. I have experience working with clients struggling with a wide variety of mental health concerns, including relationship problems and difficult life transitions. Clients who simply wish to improve their communication skills and mental wellness are welcome as well. I have a post-graduate certificate in sex therapy and I welcome clients from the LGBTQIA community, as well as any clients who wish to discuss their sexuality in counseling. I use a heart-centered approach in therapy and aim to provide a kind and supportive environment free from judgment and censorship. If you prefer a more direct approach, I am glad to give structured feedback as well. I will work with you to make the changes you want a reality. Please note that I am NOT a crisis counselor and the modality I use is not a good fit for clients struggling with self-harm or suicidal urges or behavior. I usually have an initial session by video and then most follow-up sessions are by phone. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
