Jill Wheeler
My name is Jill Wheeler. I am a Licensed Certified Mental Health Counselor with twelve years of experience. I am certified by the state of North Carolina as an LCMHC. (LicensedClinical Mental Health Counselor). I work for the Department of Defense as a military counselor during the day and pledge my evening here on this platform. Previously, I worked as an Acute therapist in a psychiatric hospital unit. This experience broadened my counseling skills. Working in several school systems with children of all ages allowed me to experience counseling the younger mindset. Currently, I work with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, school problems, and spiritual matters. My counseling style is non-judgmental, inviting, respectful, thought-provoking, and sensitive. My counseling approach combines solution-focused and motivational interviewing. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Sometimes we feel 'stuck.' Sometimes we experience negative emotions which we feel conflict with our values, morals, ideals. Sometimes we feel an emptiness. Like our inner flame...the one which burns inside, pushing us to set & pursue goals, dream, live life with a sense of anticipation...has dimmed, until just an ember. Sometimes our negative life experiences get us caught up in the lies of guilt and shame. Paralyzing us. Keeping us from moving forward. Perhaps it's more than 'just' feelings and emotions. Maybe symptoms of mental illness make life hard. And navigating through life, each day, each moment, feels like tedious work. However...please know there is help. There is hope. There is healing. There is so much more to life than what you may be currently experiencing. I have years of experience serving others. I have taught middle school and high school English; worked as a therapist in community mental health and private practice; and worked as a school counselor. I am a counselor who is a Christian. And although I truly believe that the spiritual aspects of an individual’s whole self should be explored and nurtured in therapy, whether or not we explore the spiritual dimension of life will be up to you. I have a passion working with those who feel they are not living life to its fullest. Why? Because I truly believe each of us has the ability to fully participate in a life which excites and fulfills.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the past 12 years, I have worked with people experiencing challenges largely related to anxiety. Anxiety presents itself for different reasons, but it is not something you need to be afraid of. Our thought life impacts our well-being at the core of who we are and every aspect of how we see life starts with a thought. In your thoughts about therapy, I imagine you are desiring support and guidance to navigate a specific challenge in your life at this time. I am here to support and empower you in this moment of life as we work together to unlock, transform, and release what is needed so that you can move beyond the wall.
