Laura Powers
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the field for over 10 years. I graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2009 with a Masters in Social Work. I have worked with a wide range of individuals in areas including depression, anxiety, stress management, coping with grief/loss, mood disorders and parenting/relationship issues. I find it very important to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust. I believe we can all grow through challenging experiences by increasing our self-awareness. It is truly important to be able to share our personal struggles and experiences without the fear of being judged. I pride myself on being warm, compassionate, open minded and non-judgmental. I utilize several techniques in my counseling style but a few are Cognitive-Behavioral, Mindfulness/DBT, Solution-Focused and, most important, person centered. Whether you are going through a difficult time, are seeking change or simply need an ear to listen, I am here to support you in your journey.

Katharine “Katy” Nicholson
Hi, my name is Katy! Are you struggling in communicating with one or several members of your family? Are you having a hard time interacting with your teenager? Or do you have other life struggles that need a helping hand? For 9 years I have been working with families & individuals to improve their lives and interactions with each other. While I often do see the whole family, being a trained Family Therapist, I also enjoy the opportunities to meet with individual members of the family and find out how their needs are not getting met. Oftentimes individuals don’t feel as though they are being listened to in their families or in relationships. I specifically have expertise to offer parents who are struggling with the right approach to parenting and am eager to offer empathetic solutions. With others, I am comfortable working on communication skills and how to nurture difficult relationships. When I meet with individuals I have an empathetic ear, a warm approach and am available to problem solve as needed. I have worked with clients using Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic therapies, and Internal Family Systems. Because of my experience with family therapy, I am used to thinking quickly on my feet and am not shy about using out-of-the-box approaches to solve complex issues. I won’t give up until we have worked through a resolution together! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in New York and have been working in outpatient Community Mental Health for 8 years. I look forward to serving you through online counseling.

Cyre Guadalupe
Welcome! First and foremost, I would like to congratulate you for taking the initiative to search for support and choosing BetterHelp to serve your needs! It takes courage to seek out counseling services and acknowledge that there is a part of your life you would like to change. Here is a little info about me and what you can expect. My name is Cyré Guadalupe and I’ve been a licensed social worker for the past 5 years in the state of New York. I earned my master of science in social work from Columbia University in 2013 specializing in family, youth and children services. I have experience working with individuals of all ages and specialize in serving adolescents as well as young adults who come from diverse backgrounds and are experiencing a wide array of challenges. Much of my experience has been working with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and trauma. My therapeutic style is client-centered and I utilize a strengths-based approach to engage and motivate clients to achieve their goals and overcome any barriers to success as well as develop coping mechanisms to manage daily stressors. I primarily use evidence-based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. However, I will explore other treatment modalities that best suites my client’s needs. The feedback I receive from clients is that they find me to be warm, approachable, nonjudgmental and supportive. I believe that it is essential to have someone outside of your immediate circle to offer honest and unbiased support and I hope to be that person for you! I want us to be collaborators along this journey and ensure we are making progress on goals that you have for yourself. Together, we’ll work to address whatever challenges you are experiencing and help you learn more about yourself and your intrapersonal awareness. I can connect with you in the format you feel most comfortable whether it be via video, phone or text. I am available in the evenings and on the weekends but I check messages at least twice a day, all seven days of the week. Thank you for taking the time to read more about me and I look forward to working with you!
